Induction sealing
Strong starting applications include:
- bottles and jars with compatible caps and liners
- tamper evidence and leak resistance under a closure
- continuous non-contact heating
- applications with validated container-liner compatibility
Machinery selection comparison
Induction sealing heats a compatible foil liner through an electromagnetic field after capping; direct heat sealing applies heated tooling to film or foil at the open pack.

Strong starting applications include:
| Selection factor | Induction sealing | Direct heat sealing |
|---|---|---|
| Heat generation | Electromagnetic heating of conductive liner | Heat transfers from bars, plates, bands or jaws |
| Pack components | Container, liner and cap must be compatible | Seal layer and flange or film interface must be compatible |
| Contact | No direct tool contact with the liner during heating | Tool normally contacts the material |
| Control factors | Power, speed, coil position and cap pressure | Time, temperature, pressure and cooling |
| Main risk | Wrong liner, cap pressure or container compatibility | Contamination, jaw alignment and material sealing window |
Define the product condition at the point of processing, minimum and maximum dose, container or flexible-pack range, closure or seal, target accepted output, cleaning method and available space. Compare both options against the same written requirement. Do not award the decision to the highest catalogue speed without confirming the full line and the difficult production condition.
Induction sealing heats a compatible foil liner through an electromagnetic field after capping; direct heat sealing applies heated tooling to film or foil at the open pack. The most defensible choice is the one that passes the agreed product-and-pack trial with enough capacity margin and an acceptable cleaning, changeover and maintenance burden.
Include product feed, vessels, pumps, conveyors, cap or seal equipment, guarding, controls, change parts, utilities, installation, training, trials, validation and residual-product recovery. A lower machine price can produce a higher installed cost when essential interfaces are excluded.
Neither is universally better. Select the method that handles the real product and pack at the required sustained output, cleaning scope and acceptance criteria.
Start with this option when the application matches bottles and jars with compatible caps and liners, tamper evidence and leak resistance under a closure, continuous non-contact heating.
Start with this option when the application matches pots, tubs, trays, pouches and sachets, films or foils sealed directly to a flange or to themselves, cut-and-seal, band or jaw processes.
Use the difficult product and pack conditions, record output and quality, complete the intended cleaning or changeover, and agree measurable acceptance criteria before ordering.
Sometimes. A line may use one principle for product transfer and another for measurement, or different machines for distinct product families. The control boundary must be clear.
