How to use the result
Density links volumetric and gravimetric specifications
Volumetric fillers control a measured volume, while net-weight systems use mass. The pack label, commercial requirement and legal metrology approach determine which value is controlled. The conversion is useful for planning, but it does not replace the chosen verification method.
Measure the process condition, not a convenient sample
Warm oils, hot sauces, aerated creams, foaming detergents and powders with variable bulk density can change between the laboratory and the filler. Define the sampling method and temperature, then repeat measurements across representative batches.
Allow for giveaway and process variation
Material requirements need more than nominal dose multiplied by quantity. Include start-up, line priming, residual product, sampling, rejects, cleaning losses and the approved control strategy.
Common questions
How do I convert millilitres to grams?
Multiply volume in millilitres by density in grams per millilitre.
How do I convert grams to millilitres?
Divide weight in grams by density in grams per millilitre.
Does density change with temperature?
Many products change density and flow behaviour with temperature, so use a measured process value.
Is bulk density the same as liquid density?
No. Powders and granules include air spaces, and their bulk density can vary with settling, vibration and handling.
